This opioid equianalgesic calculator is designed for specialist and general medical practitioners as well as for medical students, nurses and allied health practitioners engaged in the care of patients with persistent pain. Developed by the Faculty of Pain Medicine, Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FPM ANZCA), this opioid equianalgesic calculator is an essential clinical tool simplifying the calculation of equianalgesia expressed as total oral morphine equivalent daily dose (oMEDD).

This opioid equianalgesic calculator has also been developed as a smart phone application in both Apple and Android versions. Download it from the Apple App Store or get it on Google Play Store.

This opioid analgesic equivalence site is designed as an educational tool. Use of this site in clinical scenarios needs to take into account the specific clinical condition of the patient: e.g. age, body mass, liver & renal function, current medications, psychology and desired patient outcomes.
This site has been developed to calculate the total oral morphine equivalent daily dose and not to support opioid rotation or switching from one opioid to another. Methadone, fentanyl lozenges and neuraxial opioids are not included in this site due to their complex and variable pharmacokinetics.
